Digital-subtraction angiography is the computer-assisted radiographic visualization of the neck and brain arteries and veins.

During Digital subtraction angiography the patient has to be lying in a supine, position. 

Diagnostic DSA is usually done without the anesthesia or sedation and patient is fully conscience without any significant pain or discomfort. The procedure can usually last for 20-30 minutes, the therapeutic procedure in the neurovascular cath lab is done in general anesthesia and with complete neuromonitoring for the safety of the patient.
